Cultural Futures is a non-profit cultural organization which, in part, serves asl a Canadian culture and museum eBook distributor that offers an equitable, accessible and climate/environment-friendly vehicle for:

  • Nurturing a broad-based, inclusive network of those working in Canada's cultural sector to share knowledge that sparks greater collaboration and innovation.
  • Promoting uniquely Canadian thought leadership and opportunities to engage with leading cultural sector voices in Canada today.
  • Tailored, easy to find resources for today's cultural workforce.  We are working with regional cultural partners to ensure that the right resources are getting into the hands of those working in culture today, and we are working with leading publishers to ensure that the latest thought leadership is available to Canadians.

eBooks provide a platform for emerging and established Canadian thought leaders to influence the national conversation. As a digital medium, eBooks offer a flexible, effective way to distribute innovative ideas across Canada’s cultural sector. 

Statista reports that by 2024, the global ebook market is projected to bring in $14.61 billion in sales. Keeping in line with that prediction, the market will increase at 1.62% per year, with a predicted volume of $15.33 billion by 2027.

Publishing with Cultural Futures

Promoting uniquely Canadian thought leadership and opportunities to engage with leading cultural sector voices in Canada today.

Cultural Futures will review book proposals in the fields of museology, placemaking and festival and event management.  

  • Proposals with an emphasis on diversity, inclusion, equality and accessibility and/or Truth and Reconciliation are particularly being sought at this time. 
  • We prefer to receive proposals in the form of an annotated table of contents (a three-to-four-page table of contents with a brief description of every chapter). 
  • Submissions should also include: the author’s C.V. and/or biographical statement; a survey of comparable books; and sample art in digital form. Please indicate if you own the rights to the illustrations, and if not, whether you have access to the required images.

Adriana Davies, PhD / Editor-In-Chief

Adriana A. Davies was born in Italy and grew up in Canada and has BA and MA degrees from the University of Alberta and a PhD from the University of London, England. She is a historian, poet, curator and specialist in fine and decorative arts. She authored two volumes of the Dictionary of British Portraiture; was Science and Technology Editor of The Canadian Encyclopedia; and creator of the Alberta Online Encyclopedia. Her publications include Changing My Skin: Dark Elegies and Other Poems; From Realism to Abstraction: The Art of J. B. Taylor; The Frontier of Patriotism: Alberta and the First World War (co-editor); The Rise and Fall of Emilio Picariello; From Sojourners to Citizens: Alberta's Italian History; and My Theatre of Memory: A Life in Words. She is a recipient of an Order of Canada and is a Cavaliere d'Italia.
